"Valhallapalooza: A Celebration of Northern European Culture" features Old World culture with a modern twist in historic Newport. The third in a series, Valhallapalooza 2009 weaves Celtic culture into the day with the finest area folk musicians, dancers, performers, artisans, educators, and merchants.
Valhallapalooza 2009 features Scandinavian and Irish set dancing to live music, Kubb instruction and horseshoe tossing, poetry recited by modern Bards at the Skaldic Slam, Lapland inspired jewelry, books and CDs of Suomi, Pennsylvania Dutch hex artwork and history, Dala horses, local honey from Fruit Hill Apiaries, and much more. Your kids can get a free face painting and catch candy tossed by the Münchner Kindl, astride a beer keg as he leads the march of Bavarian dancers across the fair grounds. Savor a Newport Storm brew or Boston Italian ice and enjoy ethnic and local favorites like Swedish meatballs, French meat pies, sausage & peppers, Coney Island dogs, dynamite and more. Bid on unique, handcrafted leather goods and original artwork inspired by Nordic and Celtic culture.
